With the M8100 Deore XT crank, Shimano is taking a big step forward in several aspects. Probably the most striking innovation: The M8100 is designed for direct mount chainrings. Thanks to the special DCE+ Narrow Wide profile of the teeth and the Hyperglide+ chain design, the 52 millimeter offset of the chainrings is suitable for both BOOST and standard rear hubs. The matching Direct Mount chainrings are available with 28 to 36 teeth.

Shimano continues to rely on the proven Hollowtech 2 technology with a 24 millimeter crankshaft for the crank design. By optimizing the design of the current generation of cold-forged aluminium cranks, it has been possible to further reduce weight and increase rigidity at the same time.
