Item description: Scott Genius Custom Upgraded 940 (Fox, Renthal,Sram,Shimano,DT) Trailbike
I rode my Scott Genius for less than a year and gained a lot of experience about the handling characteristics of the bike:
The high-end suspension with a Fox fork and a DT Swiss damper easily swallows small and large obstacles that lie outside the actual range of a trail bike. The combination of Fox and DT Swiss fits perfectly and I'm very happy with it.
The rider has plenty of pop for generating speed and jumping. The 130 mm front and rear feel like a lot more
The patented Twinlock system for locking the suspension by pressing a lever on the steering wheel is ingenious and very effective.
The Geo is very pleasant, free of extremes and therefore requires no getting used to.
The Scott Genius has become more than just a trail bike thanks to its upgrades:
I've never had a puncture with the new tires!
The FatBar Renthal Lite provides more safety, control and precision, but also a more comfortable experience!
The weaker Shimano Deore brakes have been replaced by Enduro/Downhill 4-piston brakes Shimano SLX at the rear and Sram Code R at the front with 180 mm brake discs and extend the range of use and stability enormously.
The reason for two different brakes is that I wanted to try out which was best and then buy the winner for the other side. However, I came to the conclusion that both brakes are exactly strong, reliable and fit the bike perfectly after the distribution of the slightly more modulable front brake (Code R) and the slightly stronger rear brake (SLX). Because I always brake a little more with the front brake, I have fitted a Shimano ICE Tech brake rotor and think it's great.
That's why I stuck with this combination and have never regretted it.
You quickly notice that this mountain bike is light (should be just under 14kg without pedals): it is agile, climbs easily (and thanks to the geo never loses traction on the front wheel), and can be accelerated quickly and ridden at all.
Even noticeably faster than a 12x1 system. The new rear derailleur of the XT series from Shimano shifts more precisely, faster and quieter than its predecessor and looks even better.
The high-quality wheels from Syncros accelerate easily and the rims have no dents.
Components:
The following parts have remained from the original:
-the 6061 custom butted frame (this means that the wall thickness of the tubes are adjusted along the tube to save weight and increase strength and stiffness where necessary) in size L with a high/low flip chip on the shock
-the Syncros grips, saddle, seatpost (rigid), wheels (29"), stem
-a Shimano 3x10 drivetrain is installed
-a Bashguard
Changed:
-The handlebars to a Renthal FatBar Lite 760mmx31.8 and a 20mm Rise, NP 100€
-A Shimano XT rear derailleur, NP 110€
-A Continental Kryptotal Enduro front tire, 2.4" wide, NP85€
-Maxxis Ardent EXO 29x2,35" tire
,NP 62€
-One Shimano SLX rear brake (uncut) ,NP 190€
-One SRAM Code R front brake (uncut), NP 190€
-Shimano Icetech front brake disc, NP 40€
-a new gearshift and cable for the front derailleur, NP 20€
-Propain saddle clamp
So upgrades worth 797€!
In addition I give a set of CNC aluminum pedals and replacement spokes and nipples for the rear wheel, but should also fit the front wheel in the 2mm and 1.8mm version (as also installed)
After the beauty must also come the little quirks:
A spoke on the rear wheel had to be replaced
there are some minimal scratches on the paint, but these are not preventable during sport.only the fork has a minimal scratch at the top (circled in red).a service was done some time ago. The shock could possibly do with a little service (smacks a bit, but otherwise works great and without problems!)
The bike works great, but has minimal signs of use, which do not affect the function.
