The Deore XT M8000 rear derailleur was already known for its clean shifting and smooth chain movement. With the M8120, these characteristics have been further improved and even faster gear changes have been achieved. In order to be equipped for the extreme bandwidths of the 10-45 tooth cassettes, the rear derailleur was redesigned from the ground up. The derailleur pulleys are positioned in such a way that they keep the chain at the optimum distance from the cassette in all gears. The size of these has also been increased to 13 teeth. This not only provides the chain with better guidance, but also ensures smoother and more energy-efficient running. The Shadow+ system also prevents annoying chain slap on rough surfaces.
The RD-M8120 rear derailleur is designed to be used for both 1-speed and 2-speed drivetrains in combination with the 12-speed CS-M8100 10-45 cassette.
