Hello everyone,
As my wife is switching to a pedelec, I'm selling her rather unique Cannondale. I have adapted it specifically to her anatomical needs, but experience has shown that this also applies to many other riders who are not quite as tall.
The focus of the build was a simple but effective way to optimize the frame and suspension to the needs of a small, light person.
The choice of frame fell on a Cannondale Gemini in S, which was actually planned as a wallhanger. However, it turned out to be the ideal basis for a superstructure. As a solid but not too heavy single-pivot frame, it offered the possibility to adjust all important parameters separately and easily.
A simple, direct shock linkage without levers and bells and whistles, 1.5 head tube with space for all conceivable headsets and steerer tubes, threaded BSA bottom bracket, etc... It also has the striking design language of legendary Cannondale bikes and beautiful, polished weld seams.
The suspension was optimized in the first instance by a modified shock with slightly less stroke, an adapted shim stack and thinner oil. The somewhat outdated geometry was further modernized with eccentric bushings. The steering angle has been flattened and the bottom bracket significantly lowered. The steering angle was brought to a moderate / modern value with an additional angled headset.
A 140 mm fork with a lowering function and lockout was fitted to the front. The FOX-Talas RLC, which was also fitted with thinner oil, met all the requirements and provided a very secure ride.
The rest of the build and the choice of components followed the guideline "all-round bike, not too expensive, yet not too heavy, technical look, comfortable, not too stretched".
Consequently, lightweight, functional classics were used which, despite their age, still function with unparalleled ease and precision and, at least in the case of the SRAM XO Carbon components, simply look better than any new transmission :-)
The bike comes ready-to-ride, but also offers a good platform for further optimization (tubeless LRS, 1x11 drivetrain).
The build in detail:
Frame: Cannondale Gemini size S
Shock: FOX Float RP23 custom tune, 190x55 Metric, eccentric bushings
Fork: FOX 32 Talas RLC, 140/120/100mm, lockout, adjustable LSC and LSR
Wheelset: DT-Swiss XPW 1600
Tires: Continental RaceKing 26x2.2 / alternatively Maxxis DHF / DHR 26x2.3
Brakes: Formula R1 Carbon, 180mm disks front and rear
Headset: Works Components Angleset -1°
Handlebars: Syntace Vector 318 Carbon, 12° backsweep, 670mm wide
Stem: Thomson elite 4X, angle 0°, length 50mm, 31.8mm clamp
Crank: Shimano XTR FC-M979, length 175mm
Shift lever: SRAM XO Carbon 3x9
Rear derailleur: SRAM XO Carbon long cage
Front derailleur: Shimano XTR
Seatpost: Ergotec lite
Saddle: Ergon
Pedals: Eastern BMX Flat
Weight: 12,4kg with the shown Eastern-Bikes flat pedals
Here are the most important geometry data (measured):
Reach: 380mm
Stack: 550mm
Top edge of seat tube static: 735mm
Handlebar height static: 1000mm
Steering angle static: 65.5°
Static seat angle: 73°
Protrusion: 700mm
Bottom bracket height: 342mm
Bottom bracket drop: -3mm
Wheelbase: 1100mm
If you are interested, it is definitely recommended to test ride the bike! I also offer to meet halfway, for example, as a test ride and a personal discussion will certainly be helpful with this particular bike. So don't hesitate - get in touch!
